Lucas Letailleur wins best paper award
At the IEEE-MTTW conference (Microwave Theory and Techniques in Wireless Communication Workshop), Luca Letailleur, 2020 ESIEE Paris graduate and PhD student at ESYCOM, won the “Best Paper Award” in the Microwave category.
He was presented the award at the closing ceremony by Anna Litvinenko, an IEEE member and chairwoman of the MTTW.
The IEEE sponsored conference took place in Riga, Latvia, from 5th-8th October with various conferences and workshops, some of which were held remotely.

He was recognised for his thesis work
The publication is titled “ Linearity/ efficiency trade-off according to back off for HPA GaN using mm-Wave modulated signals ”. It is part of the thesis work being carried out by Lucas Letailleur which is supervised by Martin Villegas.
The thesis focuses on the study of high-frequency transceivers designed for broadband communication applications to meet the growing needs of today's applications, to which applications in use today, including the Internet of Things, virtual reality, industry industry 4.0, smart cities, etc.
5G FR2 technology is the answer to these demands, but it also poses new challenges in terms of the design, characterisation and linearisation of power amplifiers for millimetre-band 5G base stations. Integration technology using GaN (Gallium Nitride) makes it possible to achieve the high power levels required for base stations, but base stations, but requires in-depth analysis and understanding of non-linear effects to improve the effects in order to improve the linearity/overall efficiency trade-off, a theme developed in the publication.
